Motivational Interviewing training & workshops

We teach MI the way skills are actually learned — short on lecture, heavy on practice. Live workshops for individuals, private training for teams, and facilitation for events, anywhere in Canada.

Two people in a working conversation, one listening closely while the other explains a point.

Practice together
Half-day

Four-hour intensives

Focused blocks when time is scarce—spirit, a few high-leverage skills, and practice you can use the same week.

Deepening

One- & two-day builds

Supervision-friendly pacing, more rehearsal, and room to bring real scenarios from home or work.

Influence

MI for leadership

When your job is less “chair” and more “culture”—how you model curiosity, goals, and respect for autonomy in everyday leadership moments.

Tailored

Bespoke workshops

Agendas tuned to your language, setting, and constraints—including mixed audiences (e.g. family + professional supporters in the same room).

Every format is led by members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and ends with a certificate of completion.

Who leads the training

Heather Fulton, PhD, RPsych — Registered Psychologist and MINT member; working in mental and substance-use health since 2002.

Rick Johal — psychotherapist, educator, and MINT member; has built national-level training frameworks.

Common questions

Public workshop prices are always listed on the workshop itself. Private one-day team training typically starts around $3,500–$4,750 depending on format and location — we scope every engagement to your team and constraints.

Both. Online training runs Canada-wide; in-person delivery is scoped per engagement.

Training is led by members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), and participants receive a certificate of completion. MINT itself does not certify individual courses, so we don't claim that — anyone who does is overstating.
